Salt of the Earth
In this litigious world we live in, it’s easy to find stories of frivolous law suits. Recently, “The Center for Science in the Public Interest” discovered that there might be a lot of sodium in a meal at Denny’s. I wonder what their first clue was. Was it clutching their chest every time they rose to pay at the register? Was it that cows were following them to lick their skin as they oozed sweat from their encounter with the heart-attack gravy on the chicken fried steak? Regardless, they are suing to get Denny’s to disclose the sodium content of their meals. I had no idea!!!
The AMA said that if restaurants and food processors would drop their sodium usage by one half it would save 150,000 lives a year. Is this wise? We already have a health care system that is busting at the seams. Medicare, Medicaid and Social security are almost broke. Why to do we want to prolong any one’s life? Isn’t this one of the massive failures of our government; our compassion to save everyone even at the expense of the nation’s coffers and real estate? We should let the natural order of things happen. Call it the mild Darwin Awards, but if you eat at Denny’s, McDonalds, Burger King, etc, everyday, you should go quicker and not be a burden on society. Now that’s being a true American!
